Topic: Direction
Time: 40mins
Target Students: middle school or up
Goal: Able to ask and understand the direction which given by other people. (Maybe able to give direction with complete sentence)
Procedure:
1. Pre-learning: Vocabulary: location (文具店,学校,加油站,餐馆,etc.), direction word (前,后,左,右, 路口, etc.), sentence structure: 什么在哪里?
2. Form groups (2 person/group, S1 & S2), each group with 4 maps (A1, A2, B1, B2—1 is with all store location, 2 is missing 4 or 5 store location and provide store name on the top for failing the blanks), S1 get A1 & B2, and S2 get A2 & B1. On each map, there is “you’re here” sign to be a start point, so they cannot say “文具店在学校的左边”. Also, provide a list of useful sentence, which may help them provide direction, for example, “直走,第二个路口左/右转”, etc.
3. First 20mins, S1 ask S2 with the store listed on map B2, e.g. 文具店在哪里? S2 give answer according to B1 and the list of sentences, e.g. 你直走,第二个路口右转,文具店是你右手第二家。S1 need to write the store name at right location based on what s/he heard. No matter how many they did, they switch role after 20mins.
Expected Outcome: Students know how to use sentence 什么在哪里?and able to understand when other people give direction. Some of them may able to give direction without the list provided.
